Mr. Dennis' Corner

We are excited that you have taken an opportunity to visit the Wetumpka High School webpage.  Wetumpka High School is one of the fastest growing high schools in the tri-county area.  Our school offers a capable faculty, talented students with diverse abilities, and a supportive community.  Please take advantage of every opportunity for involvement in our academic and extracurricular activities.  Our freshmen academy better known as the We-2 Nation consist of fourteen Century 21 classrooms that provide the most up-to-technology for student achievement.  Our students are fortunate to have a wealth of scholarship opportunities due to the generosity and loyalty of Wetumpka citizens.  Dual enrollment and AP classes are available in addition to the advanced endorsement and standard diploma programs that prepare students for further education.   Our school partner, the Elmore County Technical Center, offers opportunity for career training and technical college scholarships.  We have a professional, caring, and dedicated special needs department.  WHS students are fortunate to have experienced and knowledgeable counselors, a compassionate student services facilitator, and a job coach whom we share with Elmore County High School.  Tutorial and remediation services are available for those students needing assistance.  We offer band, choral, and art programs.   Students may participate in a variety of clubs and sports.  Our Agriscience Department offers nontraditional opportunities for growth and service.  Wetumpka High School is home to the BEST overall robotic team in Alabama.  They went on to compete at the national competition, and placed third overall.  Students from our school have successfully competed in the state science fair and annually attended the national science fair.  This past year sophomore Nick Christensen's science project successfully competed at the international level where he placed second in his division. These various groups have high expectations this year, and we at Wetumpka High School want to continue providing them the opportunities for learning.

Please call our school with questions, concerns, or suggestions.  You are welcome to visit our school, sign in at our attendance desk, and observe your child’s class.  We encourage our teachers to communicate with you, and we are pleased to arrange a conference at mutually agreeable times.
